Jobs boost at fast-growing Midlands freight forwarder

Smethwick-based logistics solutions provider FCL UK is to boost its workforce by around 30% following another significant growth in business.

The company is bucking the current economic downturn with several new client wins and is now set to add five new staff to its current 16-strong team by the end of 2008.

Founded in 2003, FCL UK offers a full range of stand-alone and intermodal logistics solutions to clients in a wide variety of sectors. Air, sea, road and rail transport services are available, as well as a complete 'lead logistics' service for manufacturers encompassing transport from the factory, storage, pick-and-pack and delivery to the final sales outlet.

The company attributes its ongoing success to its customer-centred approach and commitment to a quality service rather than competing solely on cost.

Managing Director Kulbir Sohi explained: "As in any sector, if costs are reduced simply to win business, the quality of service generally starts to suffer. We maintain high standards of quality and customer service, with dedicated account managers who have developed excellent relationships with their clients.

"As a result, our customers keep coming back and giving us more business as they know we deliver consistently on time and on budget.
