High Five for FCL UK

Smethwick-based logistics solutions provider FCL UK is celebrating five years in business.

The Halfords Lane based company was founded by Kulbir Sohi and Purvinder Tesse in the summer of 2003 - and has gone from strength to strength, now boasting a wealth of international clients and employing 16 full-time staff.

Kulbir Sohi, Managing Director, explained: "We founded the company as a direct response to the low service levels being offered in our industry, and particularly in the sea freight sector.

"From day one we deliberately targeted our offering at SMEs who weren't receiving the levels of service, pricing and individual treatment they needed from the bigger players in the market-place.

"It's proved a highly successful strategy - as well as SMEs, we've worked with big names including Glaxo SmithKline and Marley - and we're now arranging transport of everything from toys and garden equipment to building products and pharmaceuticals.

"Like us, many of our clients are SMEs - a lot of them have been with us almost from the beginning and have grown with us."

FCL UK offers a complete service encompassing air, sea, road and rail freight transport, storage and warehousing and even pick-and-pack operations.

"Unlike some other suppliers, we start with the customer and tailor our offering to what they need, rather than simply selling from a list of services. We're small enough to be flexible but big enough to offer competitive costs and economies of scale."
